I’m Shawn, founder of Kilted Nomad Productions. I’m a former Navy Corpsman and Marine veteran with 16 years of service. During my time in the Marine Corps, I served as a Public Affairs Specialist and Combat Correspondent — managing social media for Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, serving as Press Chief, and later as Editor of the base newspaper, The Chevron.
Those roles sharpened my expertise as well as fueled my passion to tell stories. I began crafting my skills in social media management, photography, journalism, layout and design, editing, and media escort support for high-visibility officials and foreign dignitaries.
After leaving the Marines I went on to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations and Advertising with a minor in Communication Studies from Sam Houston State University. While earning my degree I managed social media for the university newspaper as well as served as an on-air broadcaster for the campus radio station.
My professional experience includes serving as a social media content creator and graphic designer for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, working as an on-air radio personality for 99.7 KVST, and serving as the Marketing Manager for Battle Board a florida based tactical gear manufacturer.
I am also fortunate enough to sit on the Board of Directors and assist with social media management for Bullets And Bandaids, a veteran-founded 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.
